Man Bag

Let me start out by saying a few things.

1) I am Straight. I like women (except when they break your heart, but even then I still find them ridiculously attractive).
2) I like backpacks. I periodically change them out, and I have about... hmm... 6 in my condo right now and not to mention all the ones I have at home.
3) I like fashion. We all know this. I'm not ashamed about it.
4) I'm straight. Did I say that already? Just had to make sure.

Ok onto the juicy stuff....I may have accidentally created and been using a man bag for the last 2-3 months. Let me explain... And please don't laugh about it too much. Ha ha ok you can.

Remember my post about jeans and the obnoxious worker there that claimed boot cut was going "out." From grief of the comment, I quickly bought 3 identical pairs of the same jean to stock pile a potential cold winter in the pants world. This wasn't my only effort to protect them. Originally what sparked me to buy new jeans was due to the degradation of my old ones. Like most guys I kept my wallet in my back pocket. This unfortunately burned a hole through the jeans in the shape of the wallet. My brother Ammon scorned me and said how I should never put my wallet in my back pocket. If you know Ammon, you HAVE to listen to him. Well, ever since then I started putting my wallet in my jacket coat, which didn't really work out. Consequently, I moved it to my backpack, which I always have with me. It seemed like a perfect idea. It worked out great... except when I would go to the store and realize that I don't have my wallet with me. Of course, I would only ever realize this as I was checking out. There were at least 3 semiembarassing moments that I can pin point off hand.

Well recently I changed bags from my faux Diesel backpack to an Aldo messenger bag. It's a backpack right... nope not anymore. The instance I put my wallet in that awesome bag, it became a MAN BAG!!! AHH!! I still haven't decided what to do. I have yet to take my backpack into stores except when I forget my reusable grocery bags (go green :D). Even then, I have only taken in my backpack not my messenger bag. Oh what to do what to do.

So I was trying to find a picture of my new messenger bag. Instead I found a money clip on sale... for $8!!! needless to say I bought it. Dang it.

I was going to put some pictures up... but all the man bags look... well like man bags. Mine is a messenger bag!!! Just to specify.

Once again... I am straight. By the way, should I blog about certain girls or not? I don't think they'll know who they are. Hm...

It's 11:11

I haven't blogged in a while. I am tired. I was trying to think of a cohesive theme for this blog... still thinking... yep nothing. Well I'm just going to spill everything in my mind.

Girls: There is this really cute, amazing girl that I'm trying to date. We went to Ball together! It's true- I wore a tux. I would post pictures but she has them all, and I am still unsure if she like me or not. Oh Miss Half Japanese Girl (comes from El Scorcho by Weezer) if you do like me, show me a definitive sign. She actually has been showing me plenty of signs according to others; however, as semi cliche as this sounds, my last relationship really messed me up. I can't seem to get back on my game. Here is small letter that I wrote...

Dear Heartbreak- I don't understand you. Please get off my property immediately or I will call the authorities. Your Acquaintance, Jarom.

Other bittersweet moments... marriages and missions. I miss everyone so much already, but I am so thrilled you are all moving along with your lives. PS please take me with you. Love always Jarom

School: extremely busy! It seems like I am more busy now than I was during the normal school year. What am I doing to myself?

Food: Okay I have been baking a plethora of sweets. hmm perhaps I will add pictures. For those who know me well, of course I threw my own fling into the mix, but the pics are from the original recipe. One more thing... here are some great substitutes for buttermilk and heavy whipping cream. For buttermilk it's 1 c milk 1 tblsp vinegar or lemon juice. HWC it's 3/4 milk 1/3 butter. They are great! Ok here's the cakes

1) Carrot Pineapple Spice cake.
2) Gluten Free Strawberry Shortcake
3) Orange Buttercream cakes with Chocolate ganache

Here's a final picture of me and my good friend Lindsay Swapp who is currently in the MTC to serve in Fiji French speaking. We are at our friend, Elisa's, wedding.

It's that time of year...

I am weird. Yes I know. Keep this in mind as I obsess over the next blog.

I like to create seasonal art. 1) Halloween- pumpkins 2) Winter- Snowflakes.

Now to the $100 questions... what season is it!??! It's Egg Laying Bunny Season!! (This season is different than easter- Easter is for the Savior not bunnies) muah ha ha

My newest venture is Pysanka/Pysanky which is a Ukranian form of egg decorating using natural beeswax and home made dyes. I have a fond memory of pysanka as a youth. Reading Rainbow did a special on pysanka, and the art came to mind nearly 15 years later.

Now I just have to start working on getting good. In order to do that I need to buy a kit. I mean come on, I am not going to make my own kyska! Here's my plug for a Egg Laying Bunny Season present. I am OCD about making good art. I'm pretty positive that certain mothers would enjoy some beautiful pysanka. AND for a limited time only it's $26 plus shipping and handling ($8) *Only valid in the US and Canada. Or... we could get the delux version for $42!! or an electric kyska for $140!! Ok... I can sacrifice and deal with a $26 set. That means I would be saving some benevolent people $152!!! Isn't that a steal? Ok mom you think about it and let me know :D

386 a number that describes my life

How to start how to start... hmmm... We'll start with a story. (Note- this may seem scientific, but I'll try to limit my nerdyness BD-- by the way that is a smiley face with nerd glasses on... tilt you head to the left)

Currently, I am in Dr. Laura Bridgewater's Molecular Biology class (MMBIO 240) which I love more than anything. Dr. Bridgewater was not always Dr. Bridgewater to me, but in fact she use to be Sister Bridgewater when I use to home teach her back when she lived in Draper. Well, she knows me well, and on the second or third day of class we were doing an exercise. It was an exercise to figure out the molecular weight of 4 Amino acids, which help make up proteins. The average amino acid weighs about 110 daltons. Amino acids are linked together by taking out a water molecule H2O.

Dr. B "Ok class, let's bring it together... let's see who wants to give the answer... hmmm maybe someone I know."
*my heart Drops*
Dr. B "Jarom! what is the weight of this polypeptide"
Me "Shoot... ok I got 386"
Dr B - looking a little puzzled "How did you get that"
Me "Well I saw there were 4 R groups which yields 3 peptide bonds. So 4 times 110 is 440...."
Dr B - "alright" as she smiles
Me "then since a peptide bond is made from taking out a water molecule. I took the molecular weight of water 18 times it by the number of peptide bonds 3 which gives 54. I subtracted this amount from 440"
Dr B - "Woah Woah woah" she said while I was giving this explanation
Me- "which yields 386"
Dr B - smiles "that's far above the call of duty. Your answer of 440 was sufficient." she smiles... I am red or as red as I can get ha ha...

Was I wrong in the answer... some would say no in fact my answer was more precise and correct... but overall I was wrong. Did I get the right answer- through my logic yes... and I did understand the material and had 440 as the original weight.

386 mimics my life. I over think instead taking the simplest answer. I always wonder if my dramatic nature causes me to overthink or am I dramatic because I overthink. Basically, I wish things were simple, but at the same time, I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything. I see things differently and find beauty in the mundane. And I discover the 386s when everyone else can only see the 410s.

It's a Miracle

As we all know, I have an extremely hard time with my weight... Let me clarify, not with being pleasantly plump, but rather with being unpleasantly skinny. It causes major problems ie passing/blacking out for random amounts of time, which is... rather unpleasant.
After my last black out in the anatomy lab (my face went into the abdominal cavity of a cadaver- don't ask), I've decided to make health my priority. Here is my list of ways to improve me health:

1) Eat like I am suppose to- eat a big balanced meal every four hours (7, 11, 3, 7, 11)- yeah that's five meals a day... now you see why it was hard for me to keep on track...
2) Work out to gain weight- gym 3 times a week for at least an hour
3) Don't burn excess calories- as directed by doctors, I have stopped running. I love but it burn way too many calories.

Results... it's official I have gained 3 pounds in the last month and a half!!! It's a miracle. No seriously... miracle!

I personally think that health should be everyone's priority. Just because you are skinny doesn't mean you don't need to eat right and exercise regularly. After shadowing so many doctors, I have a gained a stronger opinion of this. You don't have to be skinny to be healthy. Every body is different, but being healthy applies to all.

PS I'm going to Disneyland on Thursday!!
PPS I didn't really land in a cadaver... I was just hugging a urinal as i was puking and my body was all over the floor- luckily it had just been cleaned :D
